Late fall is my favorite time of year. The flowers are in hibernation, but the weeds...the incredible and under-appreciated weeds grab the last colors of the season for their short-lived majestic and solitary reign.
I love color, nature, and the odd way of looking at things. The colors in my alcohol ink paintings grew out of a seven year love affair with the Pacific Northwest. The plethora of the hues of greens alone would take a lifetime to paint them all. I found that ink on Yupo paper were as close to the vibrancy of the forests and gardens as I could get. A move to the Arizona desert in 2021 required a a much more intense search for beauty and color. The desert demands every flower and plant have a ruggedness to stand up and fight for survival, while the Pacific Northwest floral 'pansies' just sat back in their splendor and lets nature do all the work.
